So I'm home safe.
I arrived home on Sunday night, I think I slept at least 6 hrs on airplane.
After I got home, I slept from 11pm to 9am... that's 10 hrs straight.
I didn't even wake up in the middle of the night.
I must have been tired... :) Or there is a special anointing on my own bed.
Taipei Day 5 & 6 was spent with my Chow clan people.
About 60 people came from different parts of Taiwan, US and even from Brazil.
We played game and talked about our ancestors.
It's really interesting and difficult to meet my relatives who are supposed to be my cousins.
Just imagine...
My great grandpa (周送)was the first Christian of my family.
Next generation there are 7 boys (my grandpa was one of them)
So we divide our family into 7 sections according to my grandpa's generation.
I belong to the second section because my grandpa was the second boy.
If I meet a new person, I would ask... "Hi, which section are you from?"
then I ask "Are you in my generation?" Answer to this question is obvious if their last name is 周 because everyone in my dad's generation is 周神something, and my generation is 周巽something, and generation below me is 周信something.
but if their last name is different then this rule does not apply.
And guessing by age doesn't work... Some of my cousins are closer to my dad's age, and some of my uncle/aunties look pretty young...
When I was little I used to go to this reunion and ignored everyone except for my immediate cousins because I didn't speak much Chinese/Taiwanese.
Now that I'm an adult, and speak some Chinese... I do have to be somewhat social.
It's kinda stressful and delightful... 50/50.
A lot of my cousins are really knowledgeable about my grandpa's story.
Their names, personalities, their occupation, how they died, their testimonies...
They put me to shame... Most of my cousins can read Chinese so they can study the booklet.
Argh...
Someday, I want to publish either a book or a movie about my family in the language that I can understand...
I think I would be doing a great favor to my descendants who need to come to family reunion in the future.
All in all, it was good that I went back to Taiwan this time. I made my parents really happy. I got to hang out with my brother and sister in law too... that's precious :)
Thank you, my hubby and my work people for letting me do this!!!! God bless you guys!!!
